HOW YOU CAN HELP
The Witter Wildlife Refuge operates entirely on the donations and volunteer services of its supporters. Medicine, kennels, staffing, and feeding is expensive.
Anything you can do to assist us in our efforts to rescue and care for injured and orphaned wildlife is greatly appreciated. The amount of time, care and services we can provide is directly related to the generosity of donations.
There are a number of ways you can help us help them.

Host a fund raising party for wildlife:
We will provide party consulting, invitations, mission statements, literature, photographs, video tapes, and when possible live wildlife visitors to interact with party guest. (Only permanent residents are permitted to interact with people other than rehabilitators to avoid human imprinting)

Wildlife rescue and transportation vehicles are needed. Van, pickup or SUV are preferable and 4 wheel drive is of benefit for servicing the rough mountain roads of the remote areas of the 80 acre refuge.

GRANTS NEEDED
If you are in a position to help us with our expansion and enlargement activities the following items are in need of funding. Name plates bearing name of donor, PR press releases, honorable mention in newspaper column, and photographs will be made available to donors as desired.
WATERFOWL POND IMPROVEMENT GRANT $1500.00
Plant underwater and bog plants to benefit aquatic wildlife. Also plant and landscape pond surround area to help support food needs of both wild and rehabilitated deer, birds, raccoons, rabbits, opossums, and bear. Name plates bearing name of donor will be installed at pond side.
RAPTOR FLIGHT CAGE GRANT $1100.00
Build a 50’x12’x8’ flight cage for rehabilitating hawks, owls and other raptors. The completion of the cage is the last step in qualifying for a Federal Migratory Bird Rehabilitation Permit which will increase the number and size of animals (birds) we can care for. Name plates bearing name of donor will be installed on cage
WOLF ENCLOSURE ENLARGEMENT GRANT $5,500.00
Fence additional 2 hillside space, add water feature (pond and water fall for bathing and Install Isolation area for new or problem wolves to acclimate to pack and environment. Name plates bearing name of donor will be installed on cage
RACCOON KENNEL IMPROVEMENT GRANT $900.00
Pour concrete slab with self cleaning pond. Install bamboo type screening to provide privacy from other free roaming animals. Install self filling water bowl.
DEER ENCLOSURE EXPANSION GRANT $1,750.00
The existing deer enclosure area can contain two adult deer. We intend to Increase size of containment area to accommodate grazing and to support additional deer. We also plan to provide a permanent home for resident female deer to function as a surrogate mother to orphan fawns. This allows fawns to grow up with minimal human imprinting. Grant would also improve shelter building by replacing feed bins and water trough. Entire enclosure area to be planted with natural grains and grass for deer consumption. .
LANDSCAPING GRANT $500.00 increments
Plant and landscape wild areas of refuge to help support native wildlife survive with added ease. Improvements would include building natural shelters, planting bushes, fruit trees, bog plants, grass, grains and flowers preferred by wildlife.
ISOLATION ROOM GRANT $1,000.00
Build separate room to house kennels for contagious animals to keep them isolated from other patients.
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT GRANT $5,000.00
Create self flushing waste removal ponds for caged mammals (Possible sale to Zoos and other rehabilitation Facilities. Most mammals will defecate in water if available. This can be a problem with drinking dishes but we intend to turn it into an asset by continuing to perfect a wildlife toilets for caged animals and build prototypes.
Besides befitting the animal community we can offer Donor with public relation promotions, tax receipt, and profit participation options should device prove marketable to other animal facilities
Full time Veterinarian Technician One Month Grant $2,000.00
Currently all veterinary technical support is on a voluntary basis. This grant would allow for around the clock services of a trained professional to be on site for one month,
Full time Veterinarian Technician One Year Grant $24,000.00
Currently all veterinary technical support is on a voluntary basis. This grant would allow for around the clock services of an experienced veterinarian professional to be on site full time for one entire year.
PRIMARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM $ 3,500.00
Sponsor literature publication, distribution and presentations for grade school and high school students, scout troops, and organizations wishing to learn more about wildlife
COLLEGE LEVEL EDUCATIONAL GRANTS $5,000.00
University Veterinary program internships
Provide guest house accommodations for Veterinary Students to study and participate in wildlife rehabilitation and treatment. Sponsor captive and free roaming wildlife studies and Thesis's.
Land Acquisition $180,000.00
The Witter wildlife refuge currently encompasses 80 acres of heavily wooded mountain wilderness in NW Arkansas. The property currently has a caretaker house, Guest cabin for students, contributors, and overnight guests, a large two story workshop and storage building with offices, waterfowl pond, wolf enclosure area, deer enclosure pen, raccoon and other small mammal kennels, chicken coop, garden shed, and access roads to remote areas. The mortgage on the property can be paid off in full for $180,000.00 freeing up monthly mortgage payments for day to day operating expenses.
Expansion Land Acquisition $80,000.00
There are several adjacent and nearby pieces wilderness of property in the immediate area that can be acquired to increase the acreage in 20 acre, 40 acre, and 80 acre increments.

Any individual, corporation or business making a Grant Contribution is entitled to promotional considerations that best serve their needs. Affiliation and support of a Wildlife Refuge and Rehabilitation Facility can be viewed in a very favorable light by your customers and the general public.
